The other day I was using my school library's computers and I noticed a template on Mac that is formatted as a lined notebook page. Hi Michael: Basically, you cannot change the formatting 'At ALL' in Notebook View. The view is build from a specific set of styles that make it work. It is not a good idea to change those styles: you are likely to cause crashes, hangs and data-loss. So: No, you are not stupid. They are unavailable in that view. You can force some changes, but you take your life in your hands if you do. Specifically, I would not risk Hanging Indents -- that is likely to break Notebook View. You can try Centred Alignment, depending on how you apply it, that might not cause problems. But my suggestion would be 'leave the formatting alone in Notebook View' (and don't be tempted to change from Notebook View to a different view). It's fairly fragile. If you must have a play, do it on a COPY:-) Cheers On 26/08/08 3:59 PM, in article [email protected], ' wrote: -- Don't wait for your answer, click here: Please reply in the group. Hello Michael - Following up on John's reply; You can attain the Hanging Indent effect if you use the Bullets & Numbering features available in Notebook documents. You can also do some customization [compliant with the Notebook structure] if you go to Format> Bullets & Numbering. Don't overlook List Styles while you're there. Just keep in mind that Notebook is intended to be exactly that - a special feature for taking *notes* not intended for formal structuring of documents:-) Once you have your notes compiled & edited Save As something else, switch to Print Layout or Draft View & produce your final document with whatever formatting you want to apply/adjust. But *don't* switch that document back to Notebook View or you may have some rude surprises:-) HTH|:>) Bob Jones [MVP] Office:Mac On 8/26/08 6:55 AM, in article, 'John McGhie' wrote: > Hi Michael: > > Basically, you cannot change the formatting 'At ALL' in Notebook View. > > The view is build from a specific set of styles that make it work.
